The Base Foundations
At Crown Rooms, we offer a sustainable and reliable foundation option for our garden rooms using ground screws.
While ground screws are our preferred choice for their eco-friendliness and stability,
we also offer garden room construction on concrete foundations for those who prefer it.
Our team is experienced in both options and committed to providing a high-quality and customized solution for every customer.
The Base Frame
Crown Rooms exclusively uses high-quality 6 x 2 treated timber for our garden room framing,
chosen for its strength, durability, and C24 grade load-bearing capabilities.
The timber is pressure treated to resist fungal and insect attack, providing a long-lasting and sturdy frame for your garden room.
This ensures a stable and solid foundation for your garden room floor, with no bounce.
Floor Insulation
Crown Rooms uses 100mm celotex, which is the most efficient thermal insulation available, to keep the cold outside and the heat inside your garden room. Our high-quality insulation is designed to regulate the temperature of your garden room, providing optimal comfort year-round. With Crown Rooms, you can be sure that your garden room will be energy-efficient and built to the highest standards. We also use 18mm OSB on top to create a super solid platform and a smooth and level surface for finishing touches such as flooring.
Walls
At Crown Rooms, we construct the walls of our garden rooms using 4x2 CLS and 11mm OSB . To ensure that your garden room is as solid as possible, we follow a three-step process for the exterior walls.
First, we wrap the outside walls with 11mm OSB, which provides a layer of strength and stability to the structure. Next, we cover the OSB with a breather membrane that prevents any water from getting past and keeps the insulation dry. Finally, we install the last layer of cedar cladding to provide an attractive finish to the exterior of your garden room.
This three-step process ensures that your garden room walls are robust, weather-resistant, and aesthetically pleasing. Our use of high-quality materials and attention to detail in the construction process means that you can enjoy your garden room for years to come, even in harsh weather conditions.
Inside Walls
At Crown Rooms, we utilize 50mm celotex insulation for its excellent thermal efficiency. Once the insulation installation is completed, our electrician proceeds with the first fix wiring. After the wiring is in place, the walls are covered with plasterboard and finished with a skim coat before being painted. This process results in a well-insulated and aesthetically pleasing interior space.
Ceiling and Roof
At Crown Rooms, we prioritize efficient insulation and protection against the elements. Therefore, we utilize 100mm celotex insulation in the ceiling for superior thermal performance. For the roof, we construct it using 6x2 c24 timber, which is then covered with 18mm OSB to provide a solid base. To ensure long-lasting protection against water damage, we apply a single piece of EPDM rubber membrane over the entire roof surface. This process guarantees that no water will penetrate the roof for the next 25 years. Soffits and Fascias
